That varies per visitor, and depends on whether or not a temporary exhibition is on view at the time. It takes an average of 90 minutes to properly see the permanent collection with Vincent van Gogh’s masterpieces.

The Van Gogh Museum is very popular, and demand for tickets exceeds capacity. In order to avoid long queues, the decision was taken a few years ago to only sell tickets online. This also applies for cardholders (like the Dutch Museumkaart, VriendenLoterij VIP card, ICOM Card, and members of the Rembrandt Association).
No, we do not have a waiting list. Any newly available tickets are immediately added back into the booking system. Please note that it is not possible to purchase tickets at the museum.
With an online ticket you can visit both the permanent collection and the temporary exhibition. There is no extra charge.
No. A valid entrance ticket lets you visit the entire museum, because we want to give all visitors the opportunity to also view the masterpieces in our permanent collection.
It is not possible to enter the museum earlier than you booked start time. However, you do have half an hour to arrive after your booked start time. It is also possible to change the start time according to the availability. Please fill out the contact form and we will help you the best we can.
Up to 48 hours before the date and time of your planned visit, we will be pleased to help you find an alternative time to visit. We will only be able to offer you a new ticket if a different date and time slot is available.

Admission to the museum is only possible with a valid ticket. Check online whether tickets are still available at your chosen time.
No, that’s not a problem. The ticket shows the name of the person who booked the ticked and paid for it. There is a unique bar code on each individual ticket that is scanned on entry.
You can print out your ticket, but you don’t have to: you can also present your ticket on a mobile device for checking at the museum entrance. If you booked a ticket using a discount card, such as a Museumkaart, you must also be able to present it along with your ticket on entry.
You can easily book a guided tour, group or school visit online.

All tickets are only available online, including Stadspas discount tickets.
The Van Gogh Museum offers (international) students a discount on the admission price. A ticket with student discount costs € 11 per visitor. The student ticket is only valid for visits from Monday to Friday, except for Dutch public holidays and school holidays. You can book your ticket online.
Don’t forget to bring your (international) student card with you when you visit the museum, as you will be asked to present it at the entrance.
No, the Van Gogh Museum does not offer discounts for senior citizens, groups or teachers. However, special rates are available for groups of six or more visitors. Each group is required to inform us of their visit in advance. You can do this by making a reservation for a group visit. This is free of charge.
Yes, all tickets are only available online, including tickets for ICOM members or Rembrandt Card holders.

There may be several reasons preventing you from ordering your ticket online. Check your internet connection and refresh the web page. You can also try again using another browser. Sometimes it can help to restart your computer.

Following payment, you will receive an email with the tickets as attached PDF files.
Google Maps suggests the best routes for getting to the museum, by foot, bicycle, public transport or car. There are limited bicycle racks outside the museum to park your bike.
Paid on-street car parking is available in the area surrounding the museum and in Q-Park, Museumplein (Van Baerlestraat entrance, next to the Albert Heijn supermarket).
You can store your coat, (hand)bags, small backpacks (up to 45×25×25 cm), and umbrella in the lockers at the museum’s cloakroom (self-service). The lockers can be locked electronically using a numeric code of your choice.
Our cloakroom is unfortunately unable to accommodate large rucksacks and bags, (wheeled) suitcases, trolleys and other luggage or large items such as prams and folding bikes.
If you have items with you larger than 45×25×25 cm, wheeled suitcases or trolleys (any size) you may be refused entrance to the museum. Lithium ion batteries with a capacity greater than 100Wh, such as e-bike batteries, are also not permitted at the museum.
Please leave your baggage at your hotel or keep it in storage at one of the many luggage service points around the Museum square.

Prams and buggies are permitted in the museum, as are walking frames, wheelchairs and other mobility aids for disabled visitors.
Yes, you're welcome to take photos of the paintings as long as you do not use a flash, lamps, a tripod, or selfie stick. When taking pictures, please consider (the privacy of) other visitors and do not endanger the art. The photos may only be used for personal, non-commercial purposes.

Filming or making videos in the museum is not allowed, except for (professional) parties who have explicit permission from the Van Gogh Museum.

If you've booked an audio tour in advance, please collect it from the Information Desk in the Atrium.
Disabled visitors are also required to buy an admission ticket online. Visitors who require assistance when visiting the museum may bring a companion with them for free. The companion’s ticket includes an audio tour. You can book the free companion’s ticket online.
Free entry for the press is only possible following registration and approval from the Press Office.
During your visit, you are welcome in the café in the Atrium, or the restaurant in the Rietveld Building.
It is not permitted to take your own food or drink into the museum or the galleries.

No, you need a ticket in order to visit the Museum Shop and catering facilities. The museum does have its own webstore: vangoghmuseumshop.com, and there is a separate merchandise shop on Museumplein that you can visit without a ticket to the museum.
You’ll find various cafés and restaurants close to the museum.
There are baby changing facilities in the toilets. Visitors are welcome to (breast)feed babies in the museum.

The museum does not have a separate app, but the museum website is mobile friendly.
