Exhibition ‘Van Gogh along the Seine’
Discover the role played by the suburb of Asnières and the River Seine in the artistic development of Vincent van Gogh, Georges Seurat, Paul Signac, Emile Bernard and Charles Angrand.
Award-winning designer Christian Borstlap made a short film introducing the exhibition Van Gogh along the Seine. In the film, collages of historical photographs and old postcards tell the story of the changing landscape that so appealed to painters like Van Gogh, Seurat, Signac, Bernard and Angrand.
‘And when I painted landscape in Asnières this summer I saw more colour in it than before’
Vincent van Gogh to his sister Willemien, October 1887
This film is supported by our partner Van Lanschot Kempen, and is also screened in the exhibition.
