During their state visit to Austria, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and Her Majesty Queen Máxima attended the world premiere of Van Gogh in Me at the Konzerthaus in Vienna. In this audiovisual extravaganza, the Netherlands Chamber Choir bring the artworks of Vincent van Gogh and Gustav Klimt to life, accompanied by compelling music by great composers of the Romantic era.
The concert is inspired by Golden Boy Gustav Klimt, an exhibition exploring the artists who had an influence on the Austrian painter. The exhibition opens at the Van Gogh Museum on 7 October 2022. This is the first extensive overview of Klimt’s work to be organized in the Netherlands, and it features iconic highlights from all around the world.
Emilie Gordenker, Director of the Van Gogh Museum: ‘It was an honour to join the King and Queen in Vienna to delve into the world of Gustav Klimt. We are very much looking forward to bringing part of this heritage to Amsterdam in October, and to sharing it with our visitors’.
