Rob Groot (1967) has been appointed as the new Managing Director of the Van Gogh Museum as of 1 September 2021. Groot is currently Financial Director at the Dutch Broadcasting Foundation (NPO), where he is responsible for financial administration, controlling and purchasing.

Rob Groot will assume his position as Managing Director of the museum on 1 September 2021, and succeeds Adriaan Dönszelmann.
Groot: ‘The Van Gogh Museum has an outstanding reputation as a museum, knowledge centre and research institution, and is highly respected all around the world. But the museum also remains accessible to Dutch visitors, of all ages and backgrounds. This diversity really appeals to me’.
Career
Groot studied Accountancy and subsequently IT Auditing (VU University, Amsterdam), before becoming Equity Partner at KPMG Nederland, responsible for Dutch and international clients. From 2010 to 2014, he was Managing Partner at KPMG Nederland, responsible for HR.
Groot later became CFO at Stage Entertainment and was a member of the Board at Stichting Videma.
In his previous positions, Groot combined management of financial departments with other aspects including HR and IT management. He has always fervently championed the cultural and creative sector.
