The Van Gogh Museum is collaborating with the Foundation for Hospital Art (FFHA) to brighten up the walls of hospitals and healthcare institutions worldwide with canvases inspired by Van Gogh’s works. The specially developed Van Gogh Museum PaintFest kits, based on six works from the permanent collection of the Van Gogh Museum, enable everyone to make a difference in a creative way.
Collaboration with Foundation for Hospital Art Brings Van Gogh’s Art to Hospitals Worldwide
The painted canvases that emerge from the Van Gogh Museum PaintFest kits are donated to hospitals and healthcare institutions to encourage patients, their families and healthcare professionals with Van Gogh’s colourful works. Where possible, canvases will be donated to institutions that specialize in mental health.
With a part of the proceeds, kits will be offered to mental health institutions so patients can paint as part of their recovery. The Van Gogh Museum PaintFest kits contain a version of Almond Blossom, The Bedroom, Irises, Sunflowers, The Harvest and Fishing Boats on the Beach at Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer.
The Van Gogh Museum and the FFHA are hoping to connect people through art in order to achieve a positive effect in the healthcare sector, where healthcare professionals have been working under high pressure during the pandemic.
‘It is our mission to inspire a diverse audience with the life and works of Vincent van Gogh. Art can connect and offer consolation. The collaboration with the Foundation for Hospital Art offers us the perfect opportunity to connect people through art.’
Emilie Gordenker, director Van Gogh Museum
‘Sometimes we say that everyone becomes Van Gogh for a day. It is unique that we can make such a positive contribution to the lives of patients and their families in hospitals by connecting people through Van Gogh’s masterpieces.’
Scott Feight, director FFHA
