As partners in mobility, Hyundai and the Van Gogh Museum are dedicated to making the museum more accessible. With this in mind, the partners organised the Connection Day, which was held for the fifth time this year. On this special day, seniors – who have difficulty experiencing art independently – are brought into contact with the work and life of Vincent van Gogh.
Connection Day
During the past five editions of the Connection Day, Hyundai and the Van Gogh Museum made a positive contribution to the well-being of seniors by inspiring them with the life and work of Van Gogh. These efforts even continued during the COVID pandemic.
For this edition, residents from care institution Cordaan travelled to the museum in Hyundai electric cars. The group had a guided tour of the temporary exhibition Vincent van Gogh | Matthew Wong: Painting as a Last Resort. This exhibition, which is on show until 1 September, explores the colourful and expressive work of Matthew Wong (1984-2019), and his undeniable artistic and personal connection with Vincent van Gogh.
Activities for seniors
The Van Gogh Museum has organised the Connection Day for a number of years, engaging seniors who cannot visit the museum independently. On 16 September, 14 October, 18 November and 16 December 2024, senior visitors and their carers are invited to join a programme inspired by the Van Gogh Museum’s permanent collection. Participants have the opportunity to (re)discover the life and work of Vincent van Gogh, under supervision and at their leisure.
