Yoga at the museum
What is new at the museum, are the monthly yoga sessions that commence on 3 March. To be able to do this, the Van Gogh Museum partnered up with De Nieuwe Yogaschool in Amsterdam. Participants are invited to travel through the seasons using various works by Van Gogh, such as Almond Blossom and Butterflies and Poppies. A combination of classical yoga poses, meditation and mindfulness allow you to experience Van Gogh’s art in a completely new way.
After the yoga workshop, the participants are invited to visit the museum with an open mind. The first workshop will take place on 3 March at 10 a.m. and can be booked from today.
Masterpiece Meditation
You can meditate almost anywhere. On the tram. At work. At home. In the new three-part video series Masterpiece Medication, the museum guides your through various meditation exercises based on Vincent’s masterpieces. During the meditations you come closer to Van Gogh’s paintings and to yourself.
The guided meditations last seven minutes and are available in both Dutch and English. The videos can be viewed at the Van Gogh Museum’s YouTube channel and on our website .
Mindful art viewing sessions
Mindful art viewings invite you to start looking with fresh eyes and really see, over and over again. This spring, the museum will organise several mindful art viewing sessions, this time at the exhibition Matthew Wong | Vincent van Gogh: Painting as a Last Resort. Wong’s personal artworks provide an excellent anchor for practicing mindfulness under the guidance of a professional mindfulness teacher. The mindful art viewings are offered three times: on 22 March, 3 May and 7 June.
With the programme Open up with Vincent, the Van Gogh Museum wants to make a positive contribution to mental well-being. It consists of various activities for diverse target groups: from yoga lessons and meditation videos, to personal painting workshops and teaching materials for primary and secondary education, both at the Van Gogh Museum and at external locations and online. For its development, the museum collaborates with professionals, experts and (healthcare) institutions.
