23 September 2015
Today Princess Beatrix and Queen Sonja of Norway opened 'Munch : Van Gogh', the exhibition in the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam that will open to the public from Friday 25 September onwards.
During the 2015 Van Gogh commemorative year - 125 years after the death of Vincent van Gogh - the Van Gogh Museum organizes the Munch : Van Gogh exhibition. The artists Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) and Edvard Munch (1863-1944) are known for their emotionally charged works, their innovative style and their tormented lives. The artists are often compared with one another and their works are now shown in a wide-ranging exhibition for the first time in history.
More than a hundred artworks are on display; among them masterpieces that are hardly ever made available on loan, such as The Scream, The Sick Child, Madonna, Patience Escalier and Trinquetaille Bridge. Munch : Van Gogh is the first exhibition in the exhibition wing of the renewed Van Gogh Museum that recently opened its new entrance building. The exhibition will be open in the Van Gogh Museum until 17 January.
