The Buying and Merchandise Department focuses on product development and purchasing for the museum shops. All products exude the character of Vincent van Gogh’s work. Read on and discover our range of products.
Vincent van Gogh’s drawings and paintings form the foundations for a wide range of unique products, each of which tells its own story. Buying & Merchandising offers support in a range of areas: from determining a product development strategy to product purchasing and shop presentation.
Product development and purchasing
In addition to popular souvenirs such as mugs, magnets and T-shirts, we also develop typically Dutch products including bike bells and treacle waffles. The museum also offers a varied selection of books: about Van Gogh the artist, for example, but also exhibition catalogues, scientific publications and children’s books.
More than a fun memento
In order to offer more than simply a fun memento of the museum, we collaborated with Dutch Designers such as Hester van Eeghen, Studio Droog and bag designers Smaak Amsterdam. These designers drew inspiration from Vincent van Gogh’s works, resulting in several special Dutch Design products that, through the use of colour and detailing, can be seen as contemporary representations of Van Gogh’s paintings. We also collaborate with acclaimed brands such as Jaeger-LeCoultre. These luxury products unite the best of both brands.
Merchandise for museum contacts
Are you interested in offering products from our range in your shop, but lack experience in sales or product development? We would be delighted to help. Our extensive expertise and experience, combined with our large international network of suppliers, means that we are ideally positioned to develop high-quality products for our contacts. By combining your order with our own orders, we are often able to offer competitive rates.
The Van Gogh Museum is home to various store concepts. There are three shops within the museum, all offering products that exude the character of Vincent van Gogh’s work. In addition, another popular shop is located on Museumplein. The proceeds from our shops go towards museum maintenance and expanding the collection.
